Words of the moment

Hi kids. I bring you these brief, but interesting nuggets:

Sentroid[sleeping]> I feel so dirty today
Sentroid[sleeping]> I actually bought an "80's Super Hits" card for iTunes at Best Buy.
Sentroid[sleeping]> 30 classics for $20... how could I pass it up? Plus... there's something different about buying a card from a store than just buying them on iTunes
Sentroid[sleeping]> kinda like buying the CD and then transferring to iTunes... except there is no CD

Oh, and i'm not going to Cali this year.... so that means better Atlanta trip this year. Perhaps to go out earlier in the week and see stuff besides just the Con (and hopefully another Unknown Hinson concert.)

I'm torn....

Well, it's usually around this time that i'm gearing up for San Diego Comic-Con...

Let us recap my last 2 years of Comic-Con:

2006: Crazy ass stuff. I got to meet a bunch of [adult swim] personalities for the first time, hang out with a couple of them, and have a blast with some friends (and former acquaintances)

2007: Pretty much myself for the most part (no one else really went aside from BeanTroll who showed up on Friday.) Mega64 had a theater showing.... that was pretty fun. But no [as]. Was pretty much me in a hotel by myself eating corndogs. x_x

I swore after last year that I wouldn't be going to SDCC 08 unless I knew [as] was going for sure.... well, they are (according to Jackson Publick's LiveJournal.) I'm not entirely sure it's still worth going this year, though... let me lay down the pros and cons of going:

Pros:

  • Visiting my sister and family in Cali the week before.
  • [adult swim] panel, booth, etc.
  • Mega64 (hopefully Version 3 DVD and/or another theater screening)
  • Hopefully getting in another "Super-Secret [as] Drinking Conference."
  • Seeing and buying fun stuff

Cons:

  • Money (hotel, Comic-Con, etc.) x_x
  • Doesn't look like anyone is really going again this year.
  • The crowds... and in essence, missing panels i'd want to see (like I did with a couple of them last year.)
  • Sitting in my hotel room eating corndogs and drinking Mike's Hard Lemonade. x_x

I think the main thing i'm conflicted with is... if I don't go to Comic-Con, i'll have more money saved... and with that money i'll be able to make for a better trip out to Atlanta this year for Dragon*Con (which IMHO was 100 times better than Comic-Con)

We shall see.

Damn... has it really been that long?

Updated w/ pics

Geez. I didn't mean to take that long of a hiatus off... but here it goes... in wonderful bullet form:

  • I've been putting off blogging for two reasons....

1st: I got a job back in October and since it deals greatly with taxes, it seems to be getting ever busier as we come closer to April 15th... plus they're Internet Nazis.

2ndly: I guess it's been kind of a trying time for me... back in December both my grandparents passed... it was tough, but we got through it... my grandfather was 89 a month prior and wasn't doing bad up until his final week. My aunt had him cremated... and we had a nice mass for him at the church they used to go to... then we had breakfast at the local Pancake House (yum). Then just when we thought we were done... my grandmother (who had been suffering from Alzheimer's, dementia, and that damned 'Beetus) decided she was tired of being alone and passed... sadly on Christmas Eve... it threatened to ruin our X-Mas, but I think we made the most of it. We had her cremated as well, and had her mass on her birthday.... then more pancakes (YUM YUM!) Both of them lived great lives, and I think for me, the only thing I regret was taking them both for granted back when they used to have their nice big house down in South Jersey. I lived with them for a time. It was great stuff. I'll miss them both.

    In lighter news...

  • GIANTS WON! That was great stuff. :)

  • I caught Knight Rider on Sunday. Not as I thought it would be, but still rather good... and also frightening how close I was when I said what I thought the plot should be. Overall, I thought it was good and hope they make it into a series.

  • ATHF is back! I got some awesome sketches from Todd Redner who is one of the animators for the show. Sexy stuff. :D

Can't really think of much else right now. Just been trying to keep busy with random games and music. I'll try and post some pics along with what I just wrote... it's late and I need bed for work.... They claim it's going to snow tomorrow... but they always say that, and thus far anytime they've done that it ends up being sprinkles to a couple of inches and then getting washed away with rain before anything serious can happen. Still, I wouldn't mind having the day off tomorrow, but i'm not going to hold my breath. x_x

Til next time....

P.S.: Been hitting it hard on the Podcasting scene as well...

A question for the ages.... not really....

An interesting query to a dream I just had a short 30 minutes or so ago... I brought this up originally in IRC chat... it was more than likely met with a "WTF did I just read" perspective...

Okay, so you just landed on a new planet after being chased by what were obviously pirates. The pirates end up following you and essentially making you their slaves. Then you go outside your house/crashed shuttle and find explosives that you could use to kill the pirates... but you also find a race of aliens (kinda like the Covenant)

The question I have is... do you think it's better to be enslaved by the alleged pirates or blow them all to hell and see what happens with the aliens?

In retrospect the "pirates" were actually complete idiots. I mean I ended up grabbing one's shotgun (or musket... I dunno, it looked like a shotgun but took forever to load) while he was still reloading and shooting the other one in the leg. But then how long would it have been until the aliens noticed us... I mean besides my going outside and grabbing the TALKING explosives.

Also in retrospect.... I could probably turn that dream into a page of Mad Libs

Sometimes being extremely right is creepy....

(from irc.PsiGenix.net):
Session Time: Wed Oct 24 21:17:00 2007
Session Ident: #The_Birdcage
[21:17] Sentroid91> I'm still anxious to see if this Knight Rider remake 1: Happens and 2: Is good
[21:18] Sentroid91> Of course the perfect Knight Rider has to include the Hoff
[21:19] Sentroid91> Best plot would probably be Michael retires, FLAG dissolves, has a kid.... for now... let's call him Franklin Knight.
[21:19] Sentroid91> Franklin turns the age demographic that NBC is looking to snag on the show
[21:19] @Jacob> You've thought about this at length
[21:20] Sentroid91> Uncovers something
[21:20] @Jacob> a disturbing length
[21:20] Sentroid91> not really
[21:20] @Jacob> FRANKLIN
[21:20] Sentroid91> anyways... Franklin gets caught up in some serious stuff... let's say... the mafia.
[21:20] Sentroid91> Michael realizes he should tell Franklin about FLAG... and introduces him to KITT
[21:21] Sentroid91> Who is either still the 83 Trans Am or a new modernized version
[21:21] @Jacob> zzzz
[21:21] Sentroid91> But should be the 83. :)
[21:21] @Jacob> hah
[21:22] Sentroid91> So in conclusion... Franklin Knight is the new "ONE MAN" and Michael has taken over for Devon and leads Franklin on his missions with KITT.
[21:23] @Jacob> Molly Shannon guesting on forthcoming Pushing Daisies episodes.
[21:23] Sentroid91> Although, knowing Hollywood, Franklin Knight will probably end up being like Michael Knight Jr.... or Mikey Knight.
[21:24] @Jacob> or not even a son at all
[21:24] @Jacob> and some random dude
[21:24] Sentroid91> Who they'll call Mikey Knight
[21:24] * Quits: PatriciaBateman (~wysteria_@PSI-71281F7B.bltmmd.fios.verizon.net) (Ping timeout)
[21:24] @Jacob> HEH
[21:24] Sentroid91> You're right.... since that's how they find Michael in the original
[21:24] Sentroid91> He's just "some random dude"
[21:24] @Jacob> Mickey Knight
[21:26] Sentroid91> I just think it'd be cool to have The Hoff pass the torch to some new dude, rather than have ANOTHER retread. x_x
[21:26] Sentroid91> In other words... ignoring the 2 TV movies and Team Knight Rider

Wow. Now all they need is either the original Trans Am or something similar (because the Trans Am was badass) and William Daniels to reprise the voice of KITT. Can that happen too, Hollywood (y'know, since you're listening to me finally) PLEASE?!?!
